The Yale World Fellows — 16 individuals from around the globe with a demonstrated ability to effect positive change — will share their insights and experiences on Sept. 26 at the Global Innovation Symposium, an all-day event at Horchow Hall focused on driving change across industries and regions.

“There’s a lot of doom and gloom, but what I want to pitch to you is action.” Ben Soltoff, an innovation fellow at Tsai CITY and the Yale Center for Business and the Environment, kicked off fall 2019’s Yale Pitch Slam by encouraging the audience to take a stand against climate change.

Victoria Hewlett (Yale College ’19) arrived in New Haven knowing she was interested in community organizing and developing a more sustainable, just, and community-centered economy. Before transferring to Yale College from Northeast State Community College in Tennessee, she had worked on a team research project on Appalachian economic history and public health.

Tuesday’s Yale Entrepreneurship & Innovation Expo brought together Yale’s many entrepreneurial organizations and clubs for a three-hour meet-and-greet with one another and members of the New Haven business community.

Last fall, Tsai CITY and the Yale Center for Engineering Innovation and Design (CEID) partnered with L’Oréal to host a new Intensive, titled Product Development and Innovation. The cohort-based, multi-session program brought together students from cross-campus disciplines, placing them in teams and challenging them to develop novel products.

This summer, ten teams are spending eight intensive weeks with Tsai CITY, working on their ventures and projects as part of the 2019 Summer Fellowship. We’ll be following along as the teams sprint through the program, sharing their goals and experiences. This week, we’re taking a look at two teams that are innovating key processes to maximize effectiveness in health and safety.
