Tools, Trends and Tales Expert Series: Jorge Soto

Headshot of Jorge Soto

The Tools, Trends and Tales Expert Series brings successful innovator and mentor voices to campus in support of Yale students who are considering their own journey of innovation and entrepreneurship. Starting with the brief showcase of a tool or toolkit that has helped each guest in their innovative thinking, students will have an opportunity to listen to inspiring stories and insights on trends, before asking their own questions during group office hours immediately after the talk. Sessions are open to Yale students only. Join us to hear from Jorge Soto, 2020 Maurice R. Greenberg World Fellow at Yale. This event, which will run from 2pm-3:30pm, will include a short talk and office hours sessions.

Jorge Soto is the chief technology officer and co-founder of Miroculus, a biotechnology company that seeks to democratize access to complex molecular tests for treatment and prevention of diseases. Jorge founded Miroculus with the vision of reducing the barriers to entry in cost, development, complexity, and increasing access to genetic sequencing, synthetic biology, and genetic editing to help advance science and improve lives.

Previously, he was Deputy Director General of Civic Innovation at the Coordination of National Digital Strategy of Mexico, where he led strategies and projects that promote citizen participation and innovation in the country through the use of technology. In particular, he was part of the team that developed the strategy, standards, and tools for Mexico's open data policy so that public information could be shared between agencies and to citizens in readable and accessible formats. From 2009 to 2012 Jorge was the founder and chief technology officer of CitiVox, a platform that allowed government officials and development agencies to receive and analyze citizen reports and convert them into actionable information.

This event will take place online; a Zoom link will be provided to registered attendees closer to the event. Registered attendees will also receive a link to sign up for office hours with Jorge, which will take place immediately following the talk.
