Clara Lucio

Yale Women Innovators is a speaker series designed to foster community discussion, idea sharing, and networking in support of women and non-binary femme innovators across Yale's campus. End your day with a welcoming community as inspiring innovators and entrepreneurs share their stories. Refreshments will be provided.

We strive to foster innovation within the community of Women at Yale, and we are proud to welcome our speaker, who we feel embodies our vision: Clara Lucio. Join us for a conversation based around start-up marketing strategy, careers in marketing, and Yale tips with Clara.

Clara is a marketing and communications lead specializing in the start-up space. She has led brand and content, experiential marketing, and communications teams at two Y-Combinator Series A start-ups, where she led rebranding and repositioning efforts, achieved triple-digit engagement growth, and exceeded growth metrics. Clara is currently the Head of Marketing at a travel tech VC fund and venture studio. She oversees the VC's marketing and consults the studio's founders on their positioning and marketing strategy. Clara started her career at PepsiCo, Fusion- an ABC and Univision Joint Venture, and Buzzfeed. She spearheaded a series of editorial, business development, and consumer marketing efforts, winning an EPPY and D&AD award for her work in media.

She is passionate about high-impact marketing efforts that strike chords in national cultural conversations. Clara spearheaded the first Latinx professional stock photoshoot, which depicted young Latinxs in modern and professional settings, a gap often found in broader Latinx representation efforts. The shoot garnered 100s of millions of views and 10s of millions of downloads, even making it into a billboard in Tokyo!

Clara was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and has a BA from Yale University in Religious Studies and Political Science and now lives between New York City and San Juan, Puerto Rico, and enjoys dancing, cardio boxing, and mezcal drinks. She is also involved with ConPRmetidos, a not-for-profit focused on Puerto Rico's socio-economic advancement.
