From April 3 through April 5, Yale innovators will join community leaders, investors, and cross-sector practitioners to reimagine the future. Startup Yale, an annual event that brings together the campus’ biggest entrepreneurship awards, will feature a full slate of events, from panel discussions to student pitch-off competitions, that reflect Yale’s inclusive approach to innovation.

CITY Director of Mentor, Advisor, and Partner Networks Victor Padilla-Taylor shares his perspective on innovation, education, and the future of work.

On Wednesday, April 3, 16 teams of Yale College students will pitch ideas as finalists in the Chun Challenge for Change, a collaboration between Tsai CITY and Yale College’s Dean Marvin Chun.

“Tsai CITY is a cross-campus resource for any student at Yale — undergraduate or graduate. We are a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration, and a place for students from different disciplines to come together to develop groundbreaking ideas for solving real-world problems."

One of CITY’s key objectives is to foster skills in risk-taking and resilience among our students. The importance of risk-taking and learning from failure is a familiar refrain in innovation and entrepreneurship circles, from Silicon Valley’s “fail fast” mantra to the popularity of failure-focused story nights.

11 student teams from across Yale’s campus make up CITY’s spring 2019 Accelerator cohort. The Accelerator, which runs every fall and spring semester, guides student innovators through the process of building effective organizations, projects, and ventures.
